Grateful Dead Hand-Shagged Rag Dress

It’s back to the old school with this dress, mamas!  To make this apron dress, I used recycled dress-weight denim, recycled deep red corduroy, distressed denim (for the pockets) and calicos of red cream, and blue.

The adjustable and lined bodice is darted for a

bra-like fit, where I appliqued a stealy tribal sunshine.  There are two weave denim pockets created from distressed demin strips and detailed with hand-shagged lightening bolts.  The bottom of the dress is finished off with subtle seminole patchwork.  The denim strips of the dress skirt and all the patchwork have been hand-shagged, as well as the bottom layered ruffles.

The adjustable bodice measures 38 inches open all the way and 31 inches completely drawn.  The length of the dress, from center bodice top to bottom ruffled hem is just over 40 inches long, and the bottom ruffle spins out to 84 inches.

“Shells, Bells, & Dragonflies” W/Peyote Stitched Petrified Wood Cabochon

$224.20

Scaley printed cotton wings w/more satin stitched scales, along w/cowrie shells, a seedbead chain, and gypsy bells…are a amongst a few subtle details of this dress!

To make this dress I used a minty-spruce cotton/linen, and cotton calicos in brown, cream, and sage, to create a subtle slanted diamond pattern with square frames in the center, where I lovingly handstitched cowrie shells.  For the large dragonfly applique, I used an Earthy scaley print for the wings and a sparkling gold calico for the body, where I stitched a few more cowries.  The dragonfly has a long tail made from seed beads, hand rolled brass beads, and is finished off with gypsy bells.

You will find two mini split cargo pockets, and a hidden stash.  A petrified wood cabochon peyote stitch is the focus of the apron bodice.  You’ll find little kisses of eyelet lace along the ruffle and detailing the cargo pockets, just to add that little bit of sugary sweetness.

THe bodice measures a tad over 42 inches at its max and 34 inches minimum.  The length of the dress from bodice top to bottom hem is 45 inches, and the bottom circumference is 90 inches round.

Tiered Butterfly

Tiered Butterfly Halter Dress

Here’s a soft and comfy little sundress foryou butterfly lovers!

For this dress, I used two all cotton gauze fabrics…a deep lavender gauze for the main portion, which is completely lined, and a hand-dyed fabric with a golden thread weave.  On the front of the dress, I appliqued a shimmering butterfly with the hand dyed gauze, chocolate linen, and teal hemp linen.  The halter has elastic at the back, so it should fit someone 32-38 at the boosom.  The dress is cut a-frame, making the natural waist about 44 inches, and the hips about 50 inches.  The length of the dress, from mid-bodice to hem is 49 inches, but I made the tiers rather large, so that I can shorten some if need be.  :c)

I added two rounded side pockets, where you can keep your necessities close by.  There are two bottom tiers, with hand-dyed crochet lace inlay between the tiers, and the bottom tier spins out to a whoppin’  92 inches!  This one’s a spinner, mamas!

Patchwork Upcycled Overalls Dress

What I’ve got for you here is a super comfy and practical overalls dress…perfect for layering and comfy to boot!  To make this dress, I upcycled these cute BLUE SKY overalls with embroidered details and zipper pockets.  I added random patchwork panels and a petite ruffle trim to add some sugary sweetness to transform these baggy drawers into a dress,  by using some sugary scraps from my bin.  There are some paisley corduroys, calicos, recycled fabrics from old vintange clothing, cocoa twill, and more!

These overalls were already adorned with beautiful embroidered flowers and stitching.  There are several pockets found all over the dress, including zipper pockets, velcro pockets, bum pockets, and cargoes.

For the bottom ruffle, I used the lovely periwinkle blue calico and layered off white eyelet trim over it, just to add a little sweetness.

These overalls are made to fit someone with a medium build.  The waist are open at the side with button snaps and measures 36 inches round, the hip area measures around 44 inches, and the length adjusts to fit someone 5’6″ or taller.

Strawberry

Strawberry Shortcake Hemp and Calico Dress

W/Lace Inlay

Hey there pretty mamas!  Here’s another comfy little jumper dress for ya!  These dresses are wonderful for the transition season, as they can be worn with or without a blouse underneath!  For this dress, I used a beautiful hand-dyed hemp dyed by the lovely Jenna of fromthefigtree.com for the bodice, along with some of my hemp and linen scraps for the strawberry applique.

I hand-beaded the strawberry seeds using cream matte seed beads.  I also used a few tasty calicos in colors chosen by my little man and me after making smoothies one morning!  You can view our adventure and additional dress pics by clicking on the pic.  :c)

I used the calicos to make several seminole panels, while adding lace inlay between the panels and patchwork.  Lots of love went into making this little twirly!

There are 4 pockets:  the bodice pocket which closes with a wooden ladybug button, a stash inside the bodice, and 2 front dress pockets with adorable Strawberry Shortcake patches…she is gardening with her little kitty cat and gathering Strawberries in her wheel barrel.

The bodice measures 39 inches round and should fit loosely.  The shoulder straps can be altered by restitching the wooden ladybug buttons at the shoulder if you need to…I will leave this up to you after trying it on at home, though they are now securely stitched in place.  The length of the dress measures 50 inches from shoulder top to bottom hem. The bottom ruffle spins out to a twirly 90 inches…so give yourself a twirl, mamas!
